






Dr. David Mueller is many things: a surgeon, a doctor, an educator, an artist and a philanthropist.
It is a combination of these talents that makes Dr. Mueller the surgical specialist that patients and doctors choose.
After practicing for over 20 years in South Hampton Roads, Dr. Mueller has the expertise to enhance, enrich and refresh your look and your oral health. He possess the specialized skills that are required to make cosmetic procedures look as natural as possible. He also has the expertise to help patients who suffer from painful conditions such as wisdom teeth, TMJ/TMD disorders, traumatic injuries and conditions caused by missing teeth.
As a surgeon and accomplished painter, Dr. Mueller draws upon his innate abilities to give patients amazing results and the look that they desire – whether it’s eliminating frown lines with Botox or permanently lifting a brow.
Nothing is more rewarding than helping my clients feel and look their best. It is a passion of mine. That is why I personally treat every client in my practice. I don’t simply hand anyone off to an allied staff member.
Dr. Mueller is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has cosmetic facial surgery, oral & maxillofacial surgery and anesthesia certifications from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Health Professions.
Renowned for his experience as a facial, reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Mueller serves on the multi-trauma team for the Sentara Hospital System. He is a clinical instructor at Eastern Virginia Medical School in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. He is also an assistant professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Medical College of Virginia.
As an educator in cosmetic facial, craniofacial and oral surgery as well as anesthesia, Dr. Mueller has lectured internationally on facial cosmetic surgery, TMJ surgery, tissue engineering, craniofacial trauma as well as head and neck pathology. He has taught Botox and filler techniques for the Allergan Corporation and laser techniques for the Lumenis Corporation to physicians throughout the United States.
In Virginia, Dr. Mueller has provided pro bono medical services to Hope House for Boys and adults, the Samaritan House for battered women and children and various homeless shelters in South Hampton Roads. He has worked closely with the Virginia Missions of Mercy Project and the Virginia Donated Dental Services Program to help residents who cannot afford traditional medical care. Dr Mueller also caters to those with special needs in the safe environment of the hospital outpatient setting.

Outside of work and volunteering, Dr. Mueller enjoys spending time with his two sons who share his passion for music, the arts and the beach. Dr. Mueller is also an accomplished artist, who specializes in the media of oils and acrylics. His work has been displayed in museums such as the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
